Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I think it's a brilliant idea. I believe in recycling, and this seem a quintessential recycling program for computer power. I have to wonder what other kinds of work could be done the same way. I also strongly believe in pure research--knowing full well that its benefits far exceed its stated purpose and that those benefits may not emerge immediately. To take part in such a project is a privilege.
