Personal background
I live in Berlin, Germany, where I was born 1975. I started studying physics in 1996 and switched to computer science 1998 and are still busy while working as a programmer for a small company.
I was always interested in why the world is the way it is and in astronomy and physics.
My other hobbies involve Computer Gaming and bentriding :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The SETI@home project is a very interesting approach to the question, whether or not we are the only 'intelligent' life form in the universe. I think it is very unlikely that we will actually be able to establish a form of contact between alien life forms for several reasons, but I support the project because on the one hand we accidentially might receive some alien transmissions, on the other the idea of utilizing distributed PC power is smart.
The SETI research might not be able to answer the question, but I think that science in general benefits from the methods used.

I loved staring at the screensaver and the numbers, in a way it was looking out there to find something. I processed 100 work units as my contribution to the classic SETI@Home program.
