Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I heard about this project a long time ago, but never got further information. Via an article in yahoo I got some links and done quiet a bit of reading, as I could not imaging how this works (linking all those PC's together or what???) Now I understand the basic principle and I am quiet fascinated to join the project.

My general view on this question is very much different from most people. If we looking at the time frame of how long humans are able to send (even unintentionally) signals through space (appr since 1930, intentionally about since 1960??) and how long human will exist (I will give it at the most another 200 Years!) in comparison with the existence of this universe (+- 5 billion years) and assuming that other "intelligent civilizations" might face the same faith, how big are the chances that our "windows" are open at the same time???

Even if we find a signal, analyzing it and sending a message return, they might be already extinct when our signal reaches them!

And if "they" had lived a million years before us (or after us) we will never know about it - and what is a million years compared to 5 billion (even if we exclude the first 2 billion years).

Ok, that's enough - don't wanted to write a whole article - lol
