Profile: Scooter Katz

Personal background
I am a 7 year old male black and white tuxedo cat. I have submitted as my photo a copy of the Voyager "Golden" record. It represents a feeble early attempt of humans to contact extraterrestrial intelligence and is about to leave your solar system. My time is spent eating, sleeping and observing. My girlfriend next door is a 4 year old calico named Jessie. So there is a slight age difference, what can I say. Since your ancient Egyptians my species has had communication with extraterrestrials, but I decided to help SETI with my computer. I let my companion who waits on me "front paw and back paw" use my computer sometimes. He does get pissed when I walk across the keyboard trying to send an email to some friends of mine while he is using it. Who decided that the other thing is a "mouse"?. Well, meow for now.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Answers:

1- Yes. Within the next 1000 years, either you detect them or they visit you. The benefits are knowledge (hopefully not from one of the dumber extraterrestrial cultures). The dangers are they are like humans.

2- Yes. A "Golden" record.

3- So my computer time isn't wasted. The advancement of knowledge is a noble human cause which I assume is a goal of SETI. More information on the project.
