Profile: Scott Dupee

Personal background
I am graduate student in New Hampshire. I am working on my M.Ed with the hope of somehow finding a job as a history teacher in a high school. I have always been fascinated with astronomy and I did major in Physics with the goal of becoming an astronomer before discovering my love of teaching. It's too bad in a way because I am such a night owl. The thought of waking up at the crack of dawn instead of falling asleep when the sun is rising is not a pleasing one.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
When I was either in junior high or high school I remember reading a tiny column in either Time or Newsweek about this project and its goal. Having a strong interest in the wonders of deep space and the prospect of extraterrestrial life, I experienced regret over not having a computer and internet connection which were capable of handling the workload. The memory of the column was neatly tucked away in my subconscious until I somehow remembered it a few months ago. After a brief online search, I found SETI@home and became a member.

I love the concept behind this project, how thousands of people across the globe volunteer their computers in the hopes of gaining knowledge and fostering a sense of community.
