Personal background
I was born and raised in New Orleans LA and thirteen years ago moved to Charlotte NC. I’m 46 and currently consulting with area businesses and setting up small office networks. Fishing and computers are my hobbies. I am running SETI on four machines (2 PII 450 MHz, P4 2.8 GHz and a P4 3.06 GHz) on my home network I'm now over two thousand work units and looking toward the three thousand mark.If you get a chance check out my web site.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does extraterrestrial life exist? I think it is quite possible and hope that humans make contact in my life time. Hopefully ET will bring great technological advances such as time travel and extending the life expectancy of humans. I hope that we never need to defend our selves but feel that it's necessary to plan for that contingent. Since extraterrestrial life may have a lot of the same social and behavioral issues as we humans do. With that said I think that the possible benefits far out way the risk, because if contact is made with extraterrestrials, most likely they have also been trying to contact other life forms and explore other galaxies. So if their intent is less than honorable sooner or later they would stumble across our planet. What we broadcast doesn't matter. It's a reply that would really count. I run SETI to keep my computers productive and in hope that I might be doing something good for mankind.
