Profile: Peter Van Keuren

Personal background
I'm a blue collar worker, either shadetree auto mechanic, or iron worker,
depending on my mood at the moment and / or financial need. I love thinking
about who we are as a species, and pondering our neighbors in space, who I
absolutely believe are out there. How can they NOT be? I'm 60 and live in Oracle Arizona, a little town about 35 miles north of Tucson. I have a great night sky to watch,
weather permitting. The Milky Way is almost aways visible in a spectacular
way, especially at times of low humidity, which here in the desert, is quite
often. I truly feel blessed in this regard.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I definitely think ET is out there, but have no idea when and how we will
discover them. Possibly, they will discover us.

I think we absolutely SHOULD be transmitting a signal to be discovered,
although I have to real idea what that signal should contain except that
it most likely should be something mathmatical, as that is more apt to be
universally understood.

I run SETI@Home because it fascinates me, and it's a good conversation
starter. I've even seen it as a subject of discussion on an episode of
the TV program "JAG".

I think SETI is a great and worthy project and hope it continues without
interuption until ET is found or heard from, hopefully in my lifetime!
