Personal background
Hello I am Sean Nichols . I am a 15-year old ninth grade student. I enjoy reading, writing, arithmetic and other educational activities. Wait, who am I kidding - I love First Person Shooter video games, explosive action movies, but most of all hangin with the chicas! If anyone here plays America's Army, I am _-{CA}-_-DoomSnipa. Tell me you saw this - I would be happy to chat about ET and SETI@home while I kick your butt!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, of course extraterrestrial life exsists! It is unthinkable that out of the billions of stars in our galaxy alone and their planets, not to mention the billions of galaxies with billions of stars and therefore billions of planets each out there in (theoretically) each universe outside our own none of them support intelligent life capable of detecting or being detected by us. The benefits: gained and shared knowledge. Hey, who knows - maybe they will help us out a little technology and/or environmentally wise. Dangers: only if they are hostile, or if the atmosphere they breathe is poisonous, and we all fall dead just because they opened up their airlock, but lets ignore that possibility for now. If they are hostile, our weapons (used in self defense, of course) may or may not affect their craft. Even we oursselves have advanced craft that are nearly impossible to to hit with guided weapons. What if they have projected energy shielding? We will be screwed and they will wipe us out, thats what. Yes, I think we should start announcing our presence to the galaxy. We should broadcast some language and math stuff and some cultural info so we can communicate somewhat successfully with them if and when they ever come here. I run SETI@home because I have always wanted to help in the search for ET, and this is my chance to lend a small but valuable hand. I think SETI@home is a good thing and should recieve more government funding for such an important project. But then again, what organization DOESN'T deserve more of uncle sam's money? LOL just kidding. Wouldnt want to contribute more to national debt now would we?
