Personal background
I am a new SETI Client. I live in the High Desert Region of Southern California near Palm Springs (where we have stars shining every night of the year). I am currently a second grade teacher but originally taught special education. My Masters Degree is from California State University at San Bernardino. I am 58 years young and have been married or 36 years. My wife is a special education aide. I have two grown sons. I am an elected Director of a local Water Special District and currently serve as President to the Board.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It is a given that humans cannot be the highest, nor the only, form of life possible in the universe. If we are the highest form it would probably be better that we do not discover lower forms of alien life in the near future because at our current state of development we would surely despoil them. I believe that higher forms of life have already discovered Us and that they will wait until the right time to make themselves known.

We should transmit a beacon and I hope it contains all forms of information, good and bad so that the "buyer can beware". Certainly information sent should not be a clean "Radio Free Earth".

I have a fast always on satellite internet connection and a fast laptop which is under used. I signed up after watching a program about SETI on the Discovery/History Channel. My belief is that I am only one little bitty ant who is helping to build an anthill/mountain for the future.
