Personal background
I live in the San Diego, California area, work in marketing and have always been interested in space exploration and the possibility of other life out there.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It seems improbable that extraterrestrial life doesn't exist. There are just too many possibilities out there in the universe. My hope is that the discovery of extraterrestial life would bring technical advancement, a new awareness and appreciation of humans for each other, but mostly, my hope would be for the possiblility of hyper-space travel.

If we transmit a beacon to space, we should send a message of contact and good-will using a combination of words and photo's describing the message. We should also send genome map of the human race and images of our most impressive features of the planet earth.

I'm glad I found SETI@home because, now, when the kids leave the computer on, at least it is doing something that could be usefull. The program is easy to use and doesn't get in the way of my computer activities.
