My name is Dietrich, and I am a CS/EE undergrad at NMT. I always meant to get around to running SETI on my desktop. Now I have a Dell Poweredge 6450 with 4 Pentium 3 Xeons and 8 GB of RAM. More computer than I could totally utilize, I think! So SETI seemed a good fit.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home for pretty standard reasons. I believe there's life out there (thanks in part to Isaac Asimov's article "The Inevitability of Life"). I'd like to still be around by the time it's found, so I want to make what contribution I can.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
