Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
It's a little scary knowing that if and when we do receive something, it will be from a technology far more advanced than that of our own. Necessarily because only extremely powerful transmitters can be detected from many light years away using current SETI technology, and also since it is highly likely alien intelligence will detect us before we detect them -- and perhaps choose to contact us directly or via probes rather than simply sending a message. Nevertheless, I feel this is important work.

I hope SETI will eventually expand the scope of its search into other forms of communication beyond the realm of conventional radio waves (optics, quantum fields, entanglement, etc).
