Personal background
I am a domestic engineer with a masters in child developement. In other words, I am a full time mother and wife. I have been a computer user for around 13 years or so, being a member of the online community before there was an internet, now that it is here there are so many changes since those days both good and bad. It is a great time to watch things grow.

I am a mother of 3 kids with 1 adopted. Yep, I am crazy! Considering that I have twin 8 year olds. My oldest is my son who is 13 and our adopted kid is 17 - yep it is confirmed, I am crazy.

My husband and I have been married going on 4 years, together going on 7. He spent 7 years in the Army as a tanker. Gotta love those military men! :)

Other than that my life here in the middle of nowhere Ohio is slow and quiet but content. Gives me time to putter with the puter and see to all those crazy small humans we call children.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.As said in the movie Contact "It would be an awful waste of space" I think somewhere there is life. How we will discover it will be by accident or by their choice of us seeing them I think. Benefits could be the growth of our species with the possibility of a unification of mankind, knowing finally that we are not alone and we are special. Dangers are the normal kind, our own fears or any other possible risk that we can dream up - we wont know until that day comes.

2.Should we send out signals is always an interesting prospect but it is so touchy as to what to send - we don't want to seem weak or ignorant, yet there is so much about us that could be something of interest. However, I believe that if there is life out there that is advanced enough to have that good of space travel they will already know about us and our abilities that it would be pointless and unnecessary for a beacon.

The idea of running across other life forms fasinates me, I would love to see the day when we do find something. (Ok yeah I fear it a little too) Space is such a mystery, how could you not want to be involved with something exploring it. I think the project is great - I hope it helps us succeed in confirming other life. I cannot think of any suggestions at this time.
