Profile: Microwave Cowboy

Personal background
I am 46 years old and was born and raised in New Hampshire. My occupation is engineering. I love to hike, fish, photography, computers, and have a small observatory in my back yard to quell my desire to explore the firmament. I live in the deep woodlands, and often have encounters with the wild (bears and such)but no negative encounters as of yet. We all get along out here nicely if we respect each other. I run SETI@home because I believe in this bold endeavor.
Any man who believes we are the only intelligence in the vastness of the universe is pompous and arrogant. Our first radio signals have only traveled a miniscule distance in the order of our galaxy alone. The best hope is for us to receive an earlier transmission that emitted from another part of the universe hundreds of thousands of years ago. This would change all of the present day chaos of organized religion and their wars of who is right and who is wrong.
The only suggestion I would have is that members of the SETI program get instant E-mail updates on any signals that are suspect to contain any form of intelligence with location coordinates in the night sky. I enjoy looking in these areas with my 25" reflector telescope. Just the thought of us not being alone is comforting and intriguing for me...It is a big bowl out there...and we should all be looking for hope. There is certainly a short supply on Earth.
