Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI at home because its easier and a lot less time consuming then setting up my own equipment in the backyard. The project is a step in the right direction when it comes to intergalactic communications. Sure it's a long shot to say the least, but its something like the lottery, if you don't play at all you'll never win. If you do, even if the chances are a trillion to one at least there's a chance. The biggest suggestion i have for the entire project is easier user interface, i myself found it fine, i have no complaints, but i have found resistance from a lot of my less technically literate associates when trying to get them to join the campaign. They are interested at first but the BOINC software and setting up an account and so on seems to put them off. Anyway their loss, it would just be nice to make it as easy as possible to get as many individuals as we can using the program. I'd also like to see a SETI like program using BOINC to transmit as well as receive.
