Profile: Brent Cox

Personal background
I'm 19, born and raised in north east Texas, but graduated highschool from Lake Mary High. I had DeSanto for AP Physics C--Mechanics. I am currently enrolled at UF, majoring in Chemical Engineering, with a GPA of 4.0 (and will hopefully be able to sustain that), and an officer in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Student Chapter, a member of the UF Objectivist Club, and the Atheist and Agnostic Student Association.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I find it highly possible that extraterrestrial life exists, but I have no idea if or when humans will discover it.

I feel that it is not a waste of resources to transmit information to possibly be found by extraterrestrial races, but I do not necessarily feel it should be tax-payer funded (see: UF Objectivist Club).

I run SETI@home primarily because I have nothing better for my computer to be doing while I am away, and I run it 24 hours a day anyway. I might as well assist in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. Furthermore, I would like to aid the Lake Mary Physics Department in their attempt to remain in a high rank compared to other highschools on SETI@home.
