Personal background
I'm currently 66 going on 17. My passion is collecting
...computers and gadgets that go with them. I have four of them at this time networked together. And I really enjoy taking them apart and improving them. Two of them have 1/0 RAID arrays with the fastest gaming video and sound cards I can find. I'm into buying thrift store and drug bust confiscation bargains and rehabilitating them. I give them to the kids, neighbors, anyone who seems to need a communication device.

With all of the computers I have at my disposal, I figured that I should put them to some useful task, test their metal so to speak. Now I've got to figure out how to increase the speed of calculations. My computers seem to run a lot longer for a unit than most. And I thought they had blazing speed.

I am active in a local hiking group called the Morrisville Ale & Trail Association. I enjoy hiking with them and using my digital cameras to document their activities. Photographers get more exercise out of their hikes since they have to run to the front of the group, set up their shots, snap, and run again. Today I took a sequence of shots that will make a nice animation for the website. The people of MATA have become a second family to me and you can catch up with our activities at http://falconb1.tzo.com . The website is called Triangle Unfinished Travels. It is my way of blogging.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
ET? Why not? The chances of us being singular and unique are as unlikely as the earth being the center of the solar system or the sun being the center of the universe or of man being the omega of evolution from the primordial alpha. Teilhard de Chardin fans will understand.

Dangers from the discovery of alien life forms have been explored in sci fi. We'd better hope that the civilizations and creatures we find are benevalent or far enough away so that we won't come into contact too soon. Let's hope that we can exploit their knowledge from afar. Contact with alien civilizations may just be too destructive of our way of life.
