| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

Though I'm sure ET is out there, I dont' think we'll find her just yet running SAH. I run Seti merely to see how my computers perform and because of a general interest in HPC and Cloud Computing.
A suggestion: I think the SAH website should provide more statistics. There is so much data available ! Information on how your systems are performing with respect to others running with the same CPU or compared to other OSes for example. Is 64 bit linux faster than 32 bit ? All interesting questions.
The forums contain lots of threads on what machine you should buy in terms of performance per watt or performance per purchase costs etc. The required info for that is all in the SAH db, you just can't get to it (easily). |
