Profile: Gabriel REYNAUD

Personal background
Hello. My name's Gabriel and i'm french. For advance, excuse my bad english.
I'm 39 y.o, living in the Paris county (in fact, about 15 miles in south of Paris) and i'm an electrician.
My hobbies are about learning different languages, but it's hard to... "practice" them all (?).
In fact, i believe i need to communicate, even in deaf and dumb language or trying to understand what peoples said a long time ago in learning a communication system like Eguptians, incas hierogliphs or celt bars.
A long time ago, Some-ones wanted to speak, to explain them-self and that's important. Let's listen them!
Else, i like to draw and make music (bag-pipe for ex).
I like powerfull WWII aircarfts. Not because war or killing but because sometimes, just to make war, governements give monay for a marvelous thing!
A 2500hp/2500pounds aircraft, that's much viriler and fast than a Ferrari !
Surgery and transfusion ave been created during those so bad periods.
A good thing for a bad thing.
I like astronomy too (really?)
I like submarines. a kind of home into the silent world... If you don't have any useful thing to say, why don't you shut it up?
Human kind created the... "speaking language".
Why not. That's a good thing when you need it... But human kind seems to forget
his others kinds of laguages: look, smell, taste, touch and earing.
Speaking loud, crying loud, bla, bla, bla... Shut up and look! simply.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The problem for me, is not to know IF an Extra-terrestrial life is in existence but HOW MANY (300 to 400 000 planets concerned in the milky way if statistics are exact), HOW FAR: for now, more than 25 or 50 light-years are too much.
If we want to communicate with... little green men, 25 years for the question and the... dictionary, 25 years for the translation and the answer... that makes a long time conversation!
"Hello! What's up, doc?"..."I'm fine, thanks": 50 years..."And what about you"... etc, etc...
All those things... at one condition: DO THEY CAN COMMUNICATE (with us)?
Evidently, the field to seek through is so wide!
In France we say "Une aiguille dans une meule de foin" (a needle in a hay-rick).
BUT... If we want to find, we've got to search!(to win, you've got to play) And if we look our century in the human story, we're just in the beginning!
Yes... Maybe, we (i, you, reading to me, in 2006) won't speak with little green men in our life time.
It's gonna be long. That's logical:
We don't know where, what, how, what freq. listenning.
After all, did you ever walk on the moon? (Aldrin, please stay on your chair!)
No, you didn't and you surly won't (I said... No... Buzz... SHUT UP!).
But your children? Ahhhh...Maybe they will... And the next generation?...
Ahhhh, surly they will ! And in 400 years? Ahhhh! Scotty, i need more power!
You're jealous of your children?
Just think about me: I'm front of a COMPUTER, writing INSTANTANEOUSLY to AMERICA !
HEY! My grand-father drove steam-trains!
So if we want our children dial Spock everyday, we've got some work!
And we've got to begin right now! ... And Spock has to be home.
What i think great into SETI, is the fact that governements have just a little part in this project.
What i know about this, is NASA gave a little money, at the beginning, just to say "you can see, people. i'm like you: i believe in little green men" and after some years, it gave up.
The problem, it's WHEN one day, we'll can hear Spock tell us he thinks we're totally illogicals.
...What is logical, is that governements will take the discovery for them.
"The truth is out-there, Scully!".
Well, anyway, let's be optimistics cause it's like war: For a good Thing, a bad thing.....
To keep hope, i still think about this picture "Contact", that says little green men will take contact with the one they want...
