Personal background
I live in Pickering, Canada (just outside of Toronto). I'm an electrician
in my early fifties. Hobbies - music, computers, sci-fi, beer!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I feel it unlikely that we are alone in the universe. I think good solid
evidence of extra-terrestrial life might affect how we behave towards each
other on this crowded planet. Aside from that, it's exciting to be even a small
part of this project. When I first heard of Seti@home I was disapointed to find
that my hardware wouldn't support it. Now, I have it running as my screensaver.
I'm not sure it would be smart to broadcast our existence. There are
predators in every ecological niche on Earth, it strikes me as kind of naive
to blindly assume there are none in space.
