Personal background
I believe:
1. Family should be the most important thing in life.
2. Life is WAY to short - have fun, enjoy it - be nice to others.
3. There is intelligent life on other planets but unless we discover it within the next 100 years humans will be extinct. Finding intelligent life on another world will hopefully focus world governments, business leaders, religious leaders, and ALL the rest of us into more peaceful constructive activities.

My life:
Computers are my career.
After work and sleep, I spend most of my time with my family.
Travel as much as possible around the world.
My most time consuming hobby is my telescope / astro-photography.

I recommend everyone experience a meteor shower on a moonless night way out in the country (no city lights). It will be a life-changing experience.
We should be doing more to track asteroids and comets.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We need space-based arrays WAY out there relaying signals back to Earth.

I own land very near the VLA in New Mexico where part of the Contact movie with Jodi Foster was filmed.
WHEN one of my computers finds a signal, I claim the right to select the actors for the Contact II movie.
Build a bigger machine and send four people next time (2 male and 2 female):
Male scientist role: Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman, or Anthony Hopkins
Female scientist role: Uma Thurman, Nicole Kidman, or Meg Ryan,
and of course Jodi Foster and myself as the other two.
