Personal background |
Current: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Origins: Brad, Hunedoara County, Romania.
Graduated High school in Romania (Baccalaureate Diploma).
Currently student at York University, last year. Expecting to graduate in June 2006 with a B.A.SC in Geomatics Engineering.
Hobbies: There are many. Motorcycling (Honda GL500I - my current bike), outdoors, computers, Internet, gadgets, trucks/off-road stuff, politics, geodetic surveys and others.
Future plans: Getting an OLS (Ontario Land Surveyor) license and later perhaps a P.Eng (Professional Engineer) license as well. A masters in Geodetic Surveys is also on the back of my mind, but that’s for a more distant future.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
Q: Why do you run SETI@home?
A: Because my two PCs idle allot. I seldom turn them off, so they might as well do something rather than just idle. (I am a PC addict, meaning that I replace my PCs every few years anyways... so wear and tear is of no concern for me :)
Q: What are your views about the project?
A: It’s brilliant. The idea that millions of PCs doing little bits of work can accomplish what no single supercomputer on this planet can is fascinating. I hope to see this project - and others alike grow further.
Seeing the computing power wasted on my campus every day is really frustrating. There are thousands of state-of-the-art computers idling for no reason all night long.... when they could be doing something useful. Shame. Things will have to change.
Q: Any suggestions?
A: Keep up the good work :). I hope to see further applications, and an increase in research computing through networks like BOINC.
