Personal background
I am a returnee to the undergraduate experience. After receiving a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Miami University (Oxford Ohio) and after being sick of waiting tables/other menial jobs for the sake of food, I decided to return to school to get a degree in Computer Science with a Physics concentration. I am loving the challenge and look forwar to more interesting work down the road. I am a husband, father, and Dead Head. I don't know anything about Team Upgrade other that their boastful numbers. I'm afraid I don't know Italian.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run Seti@home because I have a profound belief in life out there. I tend to follow those that believe Darwinian Evoltionary Rules apply in the universe. If that is true, then they are like us. If they are like usm then they are either more advanced or less advanced )to semi steal a quote from Mr. Sagan may he rest in peace.) But if they are out there and like us, they have filled space with noise just like we have. I feel like a part of something bigger than the normal everyday and am proud to donate some bandwidth to the cause. I plan to turn more people on and get like 100 computers running all day and night.
I don't know a lot about the results of the project but feel that if some sort of quarterly update could be posted, then maybe it wouldn't seem so nebulous (no pun intended.)
