Personal background
I run SETI BOINC full time on an old laptop. I got it from ReLectronics, which I now volunteer for a few hours a week. I live in Bellingham, Washington -- a small college town near the Canadian border. I write and record music, practice tai chi, work on my house, read science fiction, and work at a cold storage to pay the bills.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Of course there's life out there. It's just a matter of time until we find it (or it finds us). We're not really that interesting to them, after all. 'Mostly harmless' is an apt descriptor. Merely being able to destroy our planet is not significant. Once we are able to destroy our solar system, then they may take notice of us.
