My name is Jean-Francois Tiers and I\\'m living in France.
I am 57 years young and I wonder if there\\'s any other form of intelligence in the universe.
Although statistics could say yes or no, based upon the number of galaxies, stars, expected planets, and so on, I think that we do not know enough to be sure. Then, I contribute (at a small level...) to this quest.
I belong to the Planetary Society and I would suggest any of us to do so.
I got a PhD in Solid State Physics many years ago (1979, Grenoble, France) but I am working in industry (steel-making, Ni-based alloys for electronics, TV, household appliances, automotive, aeronautics, etc) since 1978.
I started in the field of soft magnetic materials but, in the course of time, my scope of interest enlarged to the whole exciting field of expansion alloys belonging to the family of Invar steels.

Only a suggestion : make the transfer from \\"old\\" to \\"new\\" software easier !
I had around 450 contributions to Seti that were lost when I switched from \\"classic\\" to \\"BOINC\\". And I did not like that !
Probably I made some mistake, but I could not (and still can\\'t) save my previous account and credits. |
