Personal background
Perpetual student of life, optimistically middle aged, love politics, Sci-fi, humour, philosophy, friendship, sex and love. I believe combining honesty and confidentiality plus only judging behaviour, not people, are absolute ingredients for real learning and fun! When a friend tells me a deep secret, I feel it is a great honour of trust in allowing me to see into their very soul. It is well worth keeping confidences! Then just add sensitivity and warmth for true intimacy.

My occupation and education have been varied, from developing a successful business to sex counselling and education. I\\'ve blown my loot and have learned that it is possible to live reasonably happily on a very modest income, knowing who my friends are and valuing what I have rather than bemoaning what I have not!

I love Laurel & Hardy, Fat Boy Slim, Mozart, The Beatles and Rolling Stones, Bob Newhardt, Elton John, Queen, Sonny Boy Williamson, Sinead O\\'Connor and lots of others.
God? Who knows, I do believe and hope (s)he\\\\\\'s not the sadistic swine so many religions make h(er)im out to be! Although it is disturbing to see what a cruel world has been created.

I still love women (one in particular)and any impulsive Seti women out there of similar ilk are welcome to test my friendship! It is at least genuine and without any expectations or possessiveness. That\\'s the \\"anything else you want\\"!
My son is grown up and happily esconced and I\\'m single still with a hankering for adventure, intimacy and new ideas. I\\'m on Skype as Basasd4504, if you would like to talk Seti or for that matter anything in or out of this world! Happy days to you all, Barry

(PS What the heck are BBCode tags?)

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1)I think it is both arrogant and crazy to think we are the only occupants of this possibly infinite universe. I would love to play a little part in helping prove the point. I just hope tha if our first contacts are not friendly, that they cannot travel faster than the speed of light!

2)A great project, but a risky one, for obvious reasons.

3)Yes, please make the procedure for joining the Seti project more straight forward for computer dummies like me! Also more PR would I am sure encourage far more people to join. I joined for a few years about (I think) 5 or 6 years ago. The screen saver became a bit boring and I had no regular indication whether any of my signals had shewn anything of interest, so I \\"left\\". If you could \\"lower\\" yourselves to my level and introduce a sort of continuous colorful status level and maybe bells and explosions for a hit! A sort of weekly SETI lottery result. You know, a little glitz and fun? As I haven\\'t tried it again yet as I\\'m just signing on, maybe you are doing even better now! I\\'m looking forward to finding out.
