Profile: Vortex

Personal background
I used to be Cyclops on Seti@home classic with over 25,000 seti units returned.
Thankfully, an option was provided for me to link my old Cyclops account to my new Vortex account!

Thank you so much to whom created the "If you're already using BOINC" option in the Seti@home classic instructions!

I was the last remaining original member of the Georgia Penguin Group here at Seti@home. Unfortunately, I have no way of contacting the founder Bubbathor.
I left the Georgia Penguin Group and joined the US Marine Corps Group since I served in the Marines for 8 years, including fighting in the first Gulf War, Dessert Shield/Storm. During the war, I was with Comm Platoon, HQBTRY, 1st Battalion, 11th Marines Artillery Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st MEU, 1st MEF.

Ooh Raah Canon-Cockers!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think the concept of Distributed computing is definately an enormous Breakthrough in techknowledgy!

I choose to run seti@home for my own personal beliefs that Earthlings are not the only Living Beings in the Universe, that Earthlings are not the only Sentient Beings in the Universe and that Humans are not the only Technologically Advanced Beings in the Universe.

I was a Beta tester for the period before seti@home went live.
When it went Live in 1997, I joined as soon as I found out.

I also run Rosetta@Home because I think there is nothing more important to Humanity than understanding human DNA.
