Profile: Seaworthy Comic

Personal background
I have been with SETI@home since September of 1999. When the Boinc SETI system debuted I was a bit disillusioned, but rejoined in the Summer of 2005 and started adding more machines to my cluster in early 2006. Since then my meager little armada of computers has been scanning the skies in the hopes of zeroing in on ET.

While my computers crunch telescope data, I am busy working on my new webcomic, entitled Seaworthy (premiering 01/01/2007!!). The story revolves around Captain Samuel Strathclyde, who commands the privateer ship, the Seaworthy. The zany adventures never end with a yahoo like Strathclyde at the helm! You should read Seaworthy (when it premieres); I think you'll like it!

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because, not only do I want humankind to discover extra-terrestrial intelligence, but I want to be the that does it! I may not be able to compete with all those SETI-farmers out there with 100+ computers, but my little cluster gets an A++ for effort. I think I might be a little bit competitive about my SETI credit score (I check the stats multiple times a day), but that isn't the main reason why I'm doing it. I think I just like being a part of a project of this scope and importance.

I believe that this project has a worthwhie goal, and I think it is a great idea to send radio telescope data to people around the world to process. That is a massive amount of CPU power at this project's disposal (someone should calculate about how much; I like numbers) This is a truly global project, and if SETI@home can't find ET, then he's hiding really well!

While my processing power is feeble for now, I am destined to accumulate thousands of junk computers and become the world's most powerful SETI@home cruncher! My credit will surpass even that of SETI.Germany's total! WA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!! Ahem... but, of course, I'm doing this for the betterment of humankind...
