Personal background
I am a final year PhD student at the university of Wales, Swansea, South Wales, UK. I have a degree in Physics with Particle Physics and Cosmology and have always had an interest in matters outside of our little planet. I also like motorcycle racing; If I could race motorcycles in space, I'd be very happy :)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have always been convinced that were were only one of a multitude of occupied planets, ever since I discovered as a child that all the stars in the sky are suns like our own. It seemed obvious to conclude that there would also be planets out there, and ones that supported life.

I what ever form this life may take, let us hope that if they have the technology to reach us and greet us, that they have overcome the petty hatred that plagues mankind.

I run the SETI@home software as I have always felt this issue to be a fundamental question that I always find myself asking - When I was younger, I used to dream of working as a part of the SETI program, I now feel that I am doing my bit! Don't suppose you need another Physicist/Cosmologist eh?! :)

As for the future, I'm betting 3-7 years for an definite answer, less if the governments get their butts back in gear. Then 3 years to calm down the excitement/aprehension and actually accept it!

Good luck with it all to all you out there, we ain't far off!
