Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I believe there is someone else out there on some other planet asking "Are we alone?". I have always believed that other forms of life can exist because the odds of us being the ONLY life in the univers is astronomically impossible.
I feel SETI is an awesome initiative to search for extraterestrial life. I feel that the US government could seriously help with funding this project twice over. I say this because I question why they ear-mark money to programs for to study worms costing over $10mil :P and other such stupid ventures that have no real scientific benefit, while SETI could be potentially world-changing should it make profound discoveries.
I would highly suggest setting SETI@home to make use of ATI video cards. I have a very powerful card, but would like to keep to this site vs using the BETA SETI program. I'm sure there are plenty of BETA results to move the ATI GPU operations from BETA to normal ops.
