Hi there,
I'm a retired software engineer living in Florida.
I walking and casual exploring. (Try to find a laundromat in Monaco!)
I've been a SETI cruncher, on and off, for years.
World Community Grid is also a worthwhile project.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The forums in SETI are the best! Lots of helpful people.
The SETI volunteers are my heroes.
The motto of the "House of Blues" is "Unity through Diversity" -
I think that applies to all of the SETI crunchers - happy to be one of the many.
I'm not sure which is more fascinating
- the thousands of people crunching
- the efforts of the astronomers and people gathering telemetry
- The SET staff (who could sell a book on how to maintain a high I/O project that sends and receives data from all corners of the world.
- The efforts to maintain funding and political support.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
