Hi there, real name Tracy :)) the nickname "gingerlass" is because I have long red hair. I am a holistic therapist (aromatherapy, reflexology) and hobbies include reading anything and everything; watching the night sky; active local campaigner for the environment (residents against environmental exploitation and over-development - R.E.E.D.)- check out the website www.caerfyrddin.co.uk.
A true believer in the Extraterrestrial Hypotheses (ETH) that ET has, and is, visiting us on a regular basis. Have read many books on the subject and, although I keep my feet on terra firma most of the time, I am intrigued by the many stories all around the world of interaction or witnessing of strange craft and/or beings - some stories go back to biblical times, although descriptions were more of an ecclesiastic nature (angels or demons)then.
Am fascinated by the night sky on a general (and often paganistic) basis - the sky is an amazing part of our world - I wonder what neanderthal man would think when he sat there, late at night, checking out those sparkling orbs in the sky. I am just waiting for any one of us to find the proof that there is sentient life, other than us, out there. |

As already stated, I am convinced we have, and are, being visited by ET (I could be wrong - maybe it's *us* coming back from the future??). I do subscribe to the ETH and think humans will be informed by either our own governments (I wish!) or ET will make himself plainly known - just hope its in my lifetime!! Possible benefits will include acquired knowledge for interplanetary space travel to other planets, sustaining sentient life forms. Hopefully a change in man's conscience and, most importantly, consciousness - the need to grasp material objects is our downfall - it is destroying man's basic empathetic and compassionate drive towards fellow human beings and our beautiful planet. Maybe ET is beyond all this and will teach us the way (yes, I am a bit of an idealist!!). Dangers may include the extreme changes in consciousness - we are brainwashed to believe that money is our god - this makes us happy and if its taken away, we will be miserable. People may feel threatened by a being that tries to make us aware of our own downfall and shortcomings. We are all scared of profound change.
Definately we should transmit a beacon - we are already, arent we? Our biological makeup should be included, plus information on our planet's general makeup and a choice list of the kinds of other lifeforms we share on planet Earth.
I run SETI@home because I want to do my bit - help out as much as I can. Always loved the idea that there are people on this planet, as enthusiastic as I am, in wanting to find the proof that sentient beings do exist.
The idea that the whole world should get involved in this project is a wonderful, motivational and inspiring idea! |
