Profile: Peter Jung

Personal background
Hi! I'm Peter, I was born in Frankfurt/Germany in 1972 and I'm still living in my hometown. I work for our local youth welfare office and studied Political Science, Sociology and Philosophy at our local university from 2002 to 2011. I was diagnosed with autism in 2016. My dad died on New Year's Eve 2017.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because, well, that's a strange one, actually. The day after my girlfriend decided for herself that she and I were no longer supposed to be a "we", I watched a sequel of "X Files" on tv. It featured a radio telescope in Arecibo as part of the SETI programme. I thought: "Well, I guess I now have a lot of time to spend, now that she's gone... Why not do something useful?" [Or, well, have my computer do something useful, that is...] So I joined. (I guess I DO have a strange way of getting over melancholy...)

[Judging by the date I joined - as early as 2003! - I'm beginning to think I'm misremembering that part, because we split up in 200*6*... and again in 2009... *cough*]

My views about the project itself focus into one point: "It might be worth a try."
