Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run Seti@home because I feel that it would be too conceited of mankind to consider themselves the only possible intelligent life form around (Look at Dolphins, Elephants etc. They are intelligent but we don't have the ability to communicate with them).

If we find intelligent life on an extra-solar planet, will we be able to communicate with them? How long will it take us to develop a common language?

I believe that the Boinc and SETI@Home projects give us the best chance to gain knowledge of other intelligent life and They give us all an opportunity to participate in projects which will be of benefit to all mankind.

Is it possible that there are other beings out there on other planets doing similar projects to SETI? Are they looking for us? Should we be sending a coherent signal out into space? If so, In which direction??

Can we contact them using an Instant Messaging tool? What about SMS or MMS? Am I being silly?
