Personal background
Joining SETI was a natural progression for me, ever since I can remember I've been fascinated by space and all that it entails.

After giving up my dream of being one of the Mars astronauts (It only took one Astronomy class and zero aptitude for math for me to realize that), I now live out my dream vicariously and have spent some time visiting Kennedy Space Center and the Arecibo Observatory.

I am also a member of BookCrossing (http:\\\\www.bookcrossing.com) a group dedicated to making the whole world a library.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. Because it gives me hope that there is more out there than us, despite of my astronomy professor's view that we are alone. I prefer to think E.T has chosen not to contact us.

Now, if you were THEM and considering the way the planet is going...Why would you want to contact us?

2. I think the project is a stroke of genius, it might not seem like it, but we are part of something big and hopefully something bigger.

3. The site could be more user friendly.
