Personal background
HI!!
I'm a 42 year old male, Australian. I'm employed by the roads and traffic authority as an Occupational Health and Safety Project officer in the state of NSW. I live on the central coast which is approximately 90 klm north of Sydney. The commuting into Sydney can be a real bummer, but at least I get to sleep on the train each morning!!
I enjoy water skiing, snow skiing and swimming at the beach - which is only a couple of minutes walk from my unit. I'm divorced and have three chrildren.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1) I absolutely believe that other forms of life exist in the universe. I strongly believe that it is through the activities of organisations such as SETI that we will some day come into contact. I also believe that a major herdle to meeting other forms of life lies in the levels of intelegance of that life form that we may discover. For example if a life form that considers it self to be below ours, may well not wish to communicate. Conversely, an intelegance supperior to ours probably would not see any benefits in communicating with us, and therefore may not. Just think about who WE would want to communicate with!!!

2) I believe that we should be very careful about sending beacons off into the greatest unknown. As above, who do we want to talk to. And could a superior race/species exploit us?

3) I run SETI in the misguided believe that I may be the one to supply the computer that discovers a signal...Ha Ha. Anyway as i said I believe this program will discover intelegent life...what we as a species do from there is up to us!!
