Personal background |
I am from Vercelli, Italy, and Iwas born in 1957. I got my graduate in chemistry in 1983, then I worked in electronics and medical industry for fourteen years, before to start to work as a consultant on quality systems and environment managing systems.
I am a gun collector and ballistic expert of Vercelli Court, founder of Italian Federation of Gun Collectors, and I have written books and many articles on this topic. As a journalist I have directed for three years an hunting magazine. My passion for astronomy is quite "young", as I started to read and learn something from friends 2 years ago. On 2001 I bought a Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and I'm now approaching the deep-sky photography. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
It's statistically correct to think that other civilization have been the chance to develope out there, even if statistics is the science saying that if you have the head in an oven and feet in the freezer you are statistically well! I think there will come the time in which human beings will get in touch with other lives and I not believe this will automatically signifies there will be some danger: if other intelligences are able to receive a message, whatever it is, they are also able to understand it. About the danger, they are probably too far to represent anyway a menace for us!
I'm honoured to help SETI running SETI@home and I hope to be helpful for you.
Just a remark: the information about the progress of the project should be a little bit more easy to understand (i.e.: how many probable contact up to now, in which direction, etc.) and more frequent.
I send a picture of me with my wife Sonia, she also interested in SETI project. |
