We are the guys who put the Hungarian edition of PC World Magazine together. One of us started to process his first SETI work unit back in 1999 on a Pentium 133. Then the client started to spread on our computers like pest. Since then we have NO such thing as "switched off computer" 8-).
Our performance highly depends on what kind of test equipment we have in our test lab. For example, we had a HUGE jump in our performance when we had two awesome PCs based on the new Pentium 4 3.06 GHz processor incl. HyperThreading technology for more then a week. They did nothing but calculated SETI work units.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI@home rules in our opinion, but we wish Berkeley could stop cheaters because they're spoiling our fun!
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
