Profile: Juergen

Personal background
I was born 1964 in Wolfenbuettel (northern Germany) and I'm still living (t)here.

Perhaps you know Lessing (a well-known german poet, staying for a lot of years at our famous "Herzog August"-library) or Jaegermeister (that comes from our town).

I graduated in Computer Science (Informatik) at the Technical University of Brunswick-Braunschweig nearby. Right now I'm working as a consultant, software developer and project manager at a smaller eBusiness/Document-Management company.

Off my job I like digital photography (focussing on butterfly macros... see my pictures at german gallery fotocommunity.de) and playing basketball (career high: 26 points as guard in a 2-point-win game).

My lovely girlfriend (she graduated in mathematics) also has interest in SETI.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run Seti-at-home because I want to deliver my little brick to our cathedral of knowledge...

I believe in extraterrestrial life as these huge figures on galaxies and stars must produce planets... and the chance of at least one having similar conditions like our's and homing life is far greater than zero! But as little is the chance to detect it because of these huge distances and periods of time. Regarding these facts we will possibly miss them... but not searching will make us miss them definitely.

We also should send strong signals as we had sent Voyager and Pioneer... perhaps this signal will make somebody else on a distant planet think: "I'm not alone!"
