Personal background |
I am an Appalachian native and now live in Eugene, Oregon. I am a graduate of Virginia Tech, with degrees in Geophysics and English. I have 3/4 of a Masters degree in Education, but became disillusioned with public schools--I dropped out before my semester of student teaching. I am now a staunch advocate of unschooling (a good introduction to it can be found at wikipedia.org/wiki/Unschooling).
In terms of where, exactly, I live -- as the shiny black crow flies -- I am about 60 miles (97 km) east of the Pacific Ocean and 189 miles (305 km) south of a volcano (Mt. Hood).
My first musical loves were ABBA and Duran Duran, evolving through Smashing Pumpkins and grunge in the 90's, to my current favorite music, which most likely verges on some amalgam of alt-country, anti-folk, hip hop, industrial, ambient, and trance (is that too many genres?).
I am a libertarian and a poet; therefore, I am _______ [alive, passionate, lonesome... take your pick].
I am a technical writer for a company that specializes in environmental software. My fantasy is to become a comic book author and a dog owner. I am a sci-fi / fantasy / adolescent fiction buff.
Man . . . I am such a nerd.
"There is nothing stable in the world; uproar's your only music."
-John Keats
