Personal background
I am a computer science teacher in Dallas, Texas, and am working on a Master's in Computer Science at UNT. I got my teaching certificate as a master's student at Texas Woman's University (yes, that is spelled right), and my BS majoring in Computer Science at the University of Southern Mississippi.

I train dogs as a hobby, just about any application, and for over 5 years was training police K9 dogs. I've pretty much given that up, since it is difficult as a civilian, especially one that is not interested in doing it full time.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I think extraterrestrial life exists. I have no idea when we will discover it though. One of my favorite science fiction stories involve some traveling through space, tracking down Jesus, and each trip being less behind.

I'm not sure if we should transmit a beacon or not. There is no telling what kind of extraterrestrial life that does exist and like us, might not be beneviolent.

I think that it is a neat use of idle computer time. I would be interested in other distributed processor projects in the future.
