I'm a photojournalist a sometimes computer nerd. I built this here Athlon PC from scratch, so I figure it should do some real work. Since my computer's on all day, I figured the down time could be well spent hunting for aliens.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Hmmm. I don't know about extraterrestrial life. I want to believe in little green spacemen. Who wouldn't? I don't go looking for them with my pickup and a 12 pack of beer... Although that doesn't sound like such a bad idea?
I like SetiAH because other pooled computing resource outfits stand to make gazillions of dollars by harnessing other people's machines for free. I feel better donating computer time to an outfit that's always going to be shorter on official funding because it's odd and non-critical.
