Profile: S@NL - Pinkie

Personal background
I'm a male born in 1958. Born and living in Daarlerveen, a very small village in Twente (eastern part of The Netherlands). I'm married (1979) and have 3 sons. My local nickname is Pinkie
I like SI-FI (Star Trek, Star Wars etc).
My main hobby is Soccer (beats Football anytime). I work for Getronics in Holland as a systemengineer. I started working in IT in 1986. So i have seen the rise of the PC.
Started seti in the beginning. But was quit for 2 years. Took too long to finish a result on my PC. But came back!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. I think ET exists. Don't know where and how. Although Í believe in GOD ET must exists. Space is just too big for humans alone.
SETI can be the way to spot them.
Are they friendly? Yes and No. If they are spacetravellers: Yes. Because spacetravelling costs too much. A nation/world can't do both: Space Travelling and War. But if they are like us -still stuck in the solarsystem- they can be hostile.

2. Beacon? No, we make noise enough.

3. I run seti@home for 4 reasons.
A. Seti is a non-political,non-profit, non .... project on a worldwide scale. I believe that those kind of projects will globalise people. No more countries, no more wars.
B. Because there are rankings, there is a small competition element. Because of this element groups were founded. One of the ways to meet/talk to people.
C. I want to find ET
D. It's free (he I'm Dutch!)

Suggestions?: BOINC is a good idea, but results must not take too much time. No more than 1 or 2 days!. otherwise it will be too boring.
