Personal background
I am from Tacoma, WA, USA

I have been interested in what space holds, both near and far, for over 45 yrs.
I purchased my first telescope when I was in college. Tho it was not the best
it did allow me to view the closer planets with not to much difficulty. I was
a regular visitor to what ever observatory I was closest to.

I became interested in radio astronomy about 15 yrs ago and even visited the
aracibo site after seeing it featured in an old National Geographic magazine. I
was even fortunate enough to get a tour from one of my old classmates from
college that was working there at the time.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I joined the SETI@home search team when it was still in beta test (march of
1999 I believe) and started 'full time' search with SETI@Home on May 14,1999.

I can only offer a misquote from a great man via a character in a book he wrote

'if no one else is out there it would be awful waste of space'
