Personal background
I am a 38 years old musician who lives at sunny Valencia, a town by the mediterranean sea in Spain. I grew up watching Star Trek and became a Sience Fiction reader at a very young age, and have always been fascinated by the vastness of the universe and the possibility of finding other sentient beigns... if we can call ourselves "sentients" at all. Although my processor its an obsolete piece of junk, as soon as I heard about the Seti at home project I felt compelled to do all I could to help out.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.- I do think that there must be other sentient beings out there, and that it will just be a matter of time to eventually stablish contact. Dont think interestelar travel its possible though unless hudghe colony ships, which could spend hundreds of years traveling, would be used for that matter. That fact wipes out, in my humble opinnion, all those UFO´s sights and ET´s appearances since if someone makes such an effort would like to stablish contact with the inhabited worlds found. I see no dangers in such discovery, I think those sentient beigns out there must be making the same efforts we are to find other civilizations.

2.-I think that the Voyager project already did a great job in that matter, although we could send more beacons better equipped and into other directions. The information should be the same, a bit of our history, our appearance, our fine arts and scientific advances.

3.- I think the Seti at home project its a great idea, allowing us common earthlings to participate in it. The one who thought about the screen saver/data analizer its a genious! I do have a suggestion, although my processor its an old 450 I know it could do more than its doing. Perhaps your screen saver its not using 100% of the processor´s capabilitties? Maybe an option to implement the work rate when only the analizer its beign used could be added to the program....
