Personal background
Well, i just happen to be a really geeky non-geek 16 year old... I love computers, yet I am really into althetics at the same time. I swim competitively year round, LOVE to ski, love to kayak, and enjoy biking as well. I like speed if you haven't notice, the fast it is, the better. Unfortunately, my computer isnt all that fast. Thats why I having it running on a network of 7 or more computers at a time :-P. It makes me feel like I am actually doing something for the world.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Well, somewhere out there, there has to be another species like us, with brainpower enough to learn... so we have to find them eventually. The question is how... will the really send radio signals, or maybe in Laser signals.... Maybe they will just pay us a visit sometime.... Who really knows. All I know, is it would be realyl kool to make contact with another intelligent species, and I am helping as much as I can. As I said before, it makes me feel like I am actually helping the world, somehow..... Otherwise, without this program, i feel like nothing out there in the midst of other people..... I ask all my friends, "So what did u do this weekend?".... "Nothing".... "Oh, well I help find alines..." Theres nothing kooler than saying that... and teachers also find it very impressive ;-)
