Profile: Hartley Saunders II

Personal background
I'm a 31 year old space enthusiast from the great state of Maryland, USA. I currently reside in Colorado due to work. My greatest goal would be to travel into space. I can safely say that I will eventually achieve that goal as long as my ashes can make orbit thanks to Celestis, Inc. Short of my actually getting into space my main focus in life is to further the development of space. I believe that if we can just find a suitable economic driver we will be able to get all the support that we need from our neighbors to make spacefaring man a reality. It is to this end that I commit myself.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm taking part in the SETI project for the same reason I joined The Planetary Society. These groups are really doing the mission. The take our contributions and actually bend metal, so to speak. Due to the vastness of the Universe and time, I'm certain that there is life out there. It's only a question of where and when. We(life) are the waste or end products, depending on your point of view, of the creation of stars. One look into the night sky is instant proof of the many chances and variety of ways life has had a chance to flourish. It is only our ability to detect other harbors of life that is limited. But if we try real hard we'll eventually stumble on to the clues.
