Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
A lot of people are doing the same sort of distributed system these days (I know a friend of mine has his systems working on the Genome decoding project) but this has to be, for me at least, the more exciting of options.

I suppose when I really think about it I kind of believe we are virtually alone (sad though it may be). I couple the likely existance of life somewhere else in this near infinite universe with that same life being a) close enough for meaningful communication and b) being alive today, now, here.... And given that man has been around for such a small period of time I think the chances very very low.

So, why do I do this? Because you must grasp all straws in life!! If extra terrestrial life existed that we could communicate with, it would be criminal of our species not to try and do so!
