Profile: Steve D. Martinez

Personal background
I was born and raised in San Leandro, California on September 12, 1968. I have always been facinated by UFO's and realated phenomena ever since I was a child. When I was 11, my friends and I had a UFO club during the summer, and frequently stayed out all night in my backyard looking for UFO's. I currently hold a position in a popular rent a car company as a driver. I am single and am also a non-denominational minister. I have an open mind about life on other planets, and find it really cool.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? If so, when and how will humans discover it? What are the possible benefits and dangers of such a discovery? --
I think ET intellegence exists, and when will we discover it is uncertain, but the benefits on such a discovery could be a solution to our problems with the environment. The dangers are obviously the classic "Alien Invasion" we see so much in the movies.

Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? If so, what information should we send?-- I is a good idea to send a beacon, maybye there is some other world out there just like us doing the same.

Why do you run SETI@home? What are your views about the project? Any suggestions? -- To help keep the seach project alive and the possibility of finding other intelligence besides our own. some minor suggestions about the S@H project, is to add some sound effects to it.
