Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe it to be mathematically impossible to resist the notion that extraterrestrial life does not exist. Although life must abound elsewhere, the astronomical distances are so great it will certainly be a very long time before mankind can devise a clever way to confirm its existence.

History has taught us how earthlings first insisted on believing their planet was the center of the universe. We are constantly being bombarded by "future shock", and yet we still cling to ridiculous notions that we are "special" and unique, and that surely God created us that way.

I run setiathome because it represents a willingness to make an attempt (however unlikely) that we can find some evidence of the vast numbers of intelligent life forms that surely exist in this universe.
